For 46 years, Sojourner Project has provided free and confidential emergency shelter, legal advocacy, crisis services, and education to thousands of survivors of domestic violence. With the Lowe’s Hometowns grant, the shelter will replace 24-year-old roofs, install new gutters, replace damaged fascia, remove diseased trees and replant healthy ones, prune overhanging trees causing damage to the buildings, create two new outdoor healing areas for residents and staff, repair cement pillars on a covered walkway, replace broken blinds, and refresh the laundry room with cabinet refacing, floor retiling, and fresh paint. These renovations are crucial to maintaining a safe, secure environment for survivors, ensuring the continued delivery of critical services and providing healing spaces for families relying on stable shelter to rebuild their lives.
