Veterans Community Project (VCP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing Veteran homelessness through the provision of transitional housing and wraparound support services. With support from Lowe’s, VCP of Kansas City will replace damaged roofs on tiny homes, reconfigure the Team 49 Brick Garden, and construct a retaining wall to create safe access around the Outreach Building. These improvements will enhance safety, preserve vital community spaces, and ensure Veterans have a stable, dignified environment as they work toward reintegration and independence.
The USO is dedicated to strengthening the well-being of America’s military service members and their families. With support from the Lowe’s Hometowns grant, the center will undergo critical updates, including asbestos and lead paint removal, fresh wall paint, new flooring, drop ceiling tiles, and the installation of updated lighting and a heating element. A dividing wall will also be constructed to improve storage.
American Legion Post 321 is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the well-being of local veterans, active-duty military, military families, and the community while promoting patriotism and awareness of veterans' contributions. With the support of the Lowe’s Hometowns grant, the organization will renovate its facility by upgrading its bathrooms to comply with ADA standards, conducting mold remediation, updating the well-used kitchen, and replacing the deteriorating flooring, ceiling, and outdated ductwork in our canteen.
Camp Rendezvous Veteran Housing and Work Center provides temporary housing and supportive services for veterans, helping them break cycles of homelessness. With the Lowe’s Hometowns grant, the organization will create spaces for therapeutic activities, skill-building workshops, and community connections. This project will empower veterans to heal, grow, and reintegrate into society.
Patriot’s Pantry at the Armed Services YMCA of Hampton Roads has been serving the largest concentration of military-connected individuals in the nation for the past 5 years out of a converted storage closet. With the Lowe’s Hometowns grant, the organization will install new cabinetry, shelving, countertops, flooring, fresh paint and a handicap-accessible pantry door. These renovations will allow much greater storage space, alleviate the need to rent storage units, create a more welcoming atmosphere for patrons, and allow expansion of capacity to serve these brave families.
America’s VetDogs, a national nonprofit organization, provides service dogs to veterans, active-duty military, and first responders with physical and emotional disabilities free of charge, empowering them to Live Without Boundaries. With this grant from Lowe’s Hometowns, America's VetDogs will renovate the first floor of its administration building—revitalizing its lobby, classrooms, meeting spaces, student dining area, and training lounge to create a more functional and accessible space.
Adaptive Performance Center works to eliminate veteran suicide by creating a safe and supportive environment for active military, veterans and their families to connect through fitness, physical therapy and mentorship. The Lowe's Hometowns project will make critical repairs to the facility including repairing floors, walls, roof and windows, as well as create more community space for members to gather.
The USO Nevada at Nellis Air Force Base desperately needs a cosmetic update. This project includes new flooring and paint as well as minor repairs and the removal of light fixtures and unused cabinetry to help make the shared space look brand new for its guests.
The USO at Fort Liberty sees nearly 7,000 service members and their families each month. This project will improve the appearance of the space with a refreshed and welcoming reception area, new carpet and flooring, kitchen updates and a brand-new buffet area to allow families to enjoy the space together.
